Early History, discussing the Dutch and European settlement both before and following the 1881 incorporation of the Borough of Rutherford:
- The development of social,cultural and educational institutions and clubs,including focus on the formation and evolution of schools and religious organizations.
- Building and maintenance of the Rutherford community’s assortment of architecture, including examples of vernacular and unique architecture and its collection of carpenter-builders, some of whom were trained and schooled as architects. (Note:this offers the opportunity to discuss the success,failure and disappointments of historic preservation)
- Bus tour of Rutherford (tentative date: Saturday, October 5th); approximately 90 minutes
